Violence between Muslim passengers and the Police breaks out at Manchester Airport
Greater Manchester Police have issued a statement
It has been alleged that these Muslim passengers refused to have their veiled mother searched by the police because it was not allowed in Islamic law. Three officers were assaulted after the passengers resisted arrest, with a female officer suffering a broken nose. All are receiving hospital treatment. During the altercation, a male police officer kicks one of the suspects in the head after tasering him.
As part of their statement, Greater Manchester Police said:
"While attempting to arrest one of the suspects of the earlier altercation, three officers were subject to a violent assault, where they were punched to the ground. A female officer suffered a broken nose and all three were taken to hospital for treatment.
As the attending officers were firearms officers, there was a clear risk during the assault of their firearms being taken from them."
