Porsche's upcoming Boxster and Cayman models will ditch their petrol engines for an all-electric replacement.

Porsche chairman Oliver Blume suggested  80% of their model line-up would all electric by 2030. That seems unlikely given diminishing Taycan sales and the development of ICE models to keep up with consumer demand.

The 2026 Porsche Boxster and Cayman 718 (currently being labelled the 983) were meant to arrive this year.  The spy shots show us a car that has a blend of 911 and Taycan elements and is coming along the development cycle nicely. However the current 718 models had a huge sales year in 2024 which Porsche won't want to hastily end especially given the uncertainty around consumer appetitie for pure EVs.

We should be seeing a lot more of this car over the year including a full reveal of the new Boxster sibling.
